FAQ — About the Qur’an

The Qur’an was preserved through both written records and mass memorization (hifz). It has remained unchanged since its revelation over 1,400 years ago.

While both are religious scriptures, the Qur’an is believed by Muslims to be the unchanged word of God in its original Arabic, whereas the Bible has been translated and edited over centuries.

Many scholars point to verses in the Qur’an that describe natural phenomena consistent with modern scientific discoveries, including embryology, the expansion of the universe, and the water cycle.

While translations of the Qur’an’s meaning exist in many languages, they are considered interpretations rather than the Qur’an itself, which is only in its original Arabic form.
